Mastering Live Dealer Baccarat: Strategy & Odds

Live Baccarat
Warning: Baccarat is a negative expectation game. The house always has an edge. Play for entertainment, not investment.

Baccarat is often seen as a game of mystery, but it is purely mathematical. In Live Dealer Baccarat, the rules are fixed, and so are the probabilities. Here is why the "Banker" is the only smart bet.

1. House Edge Comparison

To win at Baccarat, you must minimize the casino's advantage. Let's compare the three main bets.

Bet Type House Edge Win Probability Verdict
Banker 1.06% 45.86% Best Bet
Player 1.24% 44.62% Acceptable
Tie 14.36% 9.52% Avoid!

2. The Banker Bet Logic

The Banker hand acts last, giving it a slight positional advantage. Even with the 5% commission taken on wins, it remains statistically superior to the Player bet.

Strategy: Bet Banker continuously until it loses. Do not switch back and forth arbitrarily.

3. The Tie Bet Trap

The Tie bet typically pays 8:1. However, the true odds are closer to 10.5:1. This discrepancy gives the casino a massive 14.36% edge. It is one of the worst bets in the entire casino.

Live Baccarat scoreboards show trends like "Big Road" or "Cockroach Road." These are fun visualize, but past patterns do not influence future cards.

In an 8-deck shoe, the removal of a few cards does not significantly alter the probability of the next hand (unlike Blackjack count betting). Do not bet based on "patterns."
